January's Carrick Business Spotlight goes to Readshaw Funeral Home, Inc!
This grand, iconic building is a familiar landmark to many. As a graduate of Carrick High School, Kevin achieved a milestone in 1984 when he became the second funeral director in Allegheny County to earn certification as a funeral service practitioner from The Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice.


December's Carrick Business Spotlight goes to Patty Jo’s!
Marlene Rogers started bartending at Patty Jo's in 1998 and later became the owner of the building in 2010. Under her ownership, Patty Jo's evolved into a cozy neighborhood staple, offering great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

November's Carrick Business Spotlight goes to El rincon oaxaqueño!
Born in Oaxaqueño Mexico, Teresa and Mario Garcia moved to Pittsburgh 17 years ago accompanied by their business partner Cornelio Herrera. Teresa and Mario's mother, Beny Garcia, who is no longer with us today, taught the siblings their hard work ethic. Mama Beny would say, "Always keep going and work hard."


October’s Carrick Business Spotlight Goes To Boron Funeral Home Inc.
In the early 1920s, 1719 Brownsville Road was built. It is a beautiful building that holds the current Boron Funeral Home Inc and 7 apartments above it. In 1968, Parents Thaddeus T. and Lucy P. Boron bought the "Koontz Funeral Home" after Mr. Boron had managed it since 1954.
